Questions and answers
Here are some of the more commonly asked questions we receive.

Q:   When does the season begin?
A:    The League (UCSL) in which we play has 2 seasons Fall and Spring, The Fall season usually begins either the last week of August or the first Saturday after Labor Day, and ends the first of November. The Spring season usually starts the end of March and runs through the first of May.

Q:   How many games do we we play?
A:    The league usually schedules 10 games in the fall and 8 games in the Spring. The fall season will end with a county wide tournament usually held in 2 locations(last year it was Weddington for the younger teams and Monroe for the teams which use the big field.

Q. Where do we play games?
A. Any home games(usually 4 or 5 in the fall and 3 or 4 in the spring) will be played at our complex behind Monroe Middle on Cotton st. Any away games could be at any other association in the county. i.e. Weddington Optimist, Western Union Elementary, Hemby Bridge elementary.  Usually the maximum drive from Monroe is less than 30 Minutes(15-18 miles).

Q:   What age group should my child play?
A:    Our age groups are set by NCYSA and are based on the childs age as of Aug 1st of the current seasonal year. If say your child turned 10 on Aug 2nd, then they would be a U10 player for this season (Fall and Spring). If your child turned 10 on July 27th then they would be a U11 player.

Q:   My child turned 10 in July  and has never played before can they play down on a U10 team?
A:   No, The only time a playdown request is considered, is in the case of a physical or mental disability, and then must be supported by a statement from your doctor and then voted on by the UCSL board.

Q. Can my daughter play on an all boys team.
A. At U7 all teams are co-ed after that we try and have girls and boys teams if possible. If you have a girl who you feel would be challenged more by playing with the boys, ask us and see if we have room on the boys team. Otherwise they will be automaticaly assigned to a gender correct team.

Q. How much does it cost to play?
A. This can change from year to year and season to season but usually it is $50 for Micros (4 & 5 years old) and $90 for ages 6 through 14.  Please check the registration form fee schedule as it will have the most current pricing.

Q Do you offer a discount for multiple players from the same family?
A. In order to keep our prices as low as possible we are no longer offering a multi child discount.

Q:   What is included in the fee?
A:    The fee covers NCYSA registration and insurance, UCSL fees, referee game and assignor fees, complete uniform(jersey, shorts and socks), equipment and field usage. The only thing you will need to buy are cleats and Shinguards.

Q:   When/Where will we practice?
A:    All practices will take place at the fields behind Monroe Middle School(across from the armory on Charles St). Practice time are set by the coach so they could vary, but are usually either Mon/Wed or Tue/Thur. Typically they will run from about 6p-7:30p for the younger kids(U7-U12), U14s may practice alittle later depending on field space/coach preference.

Q:   Can my child play on the same team as his/her friends/siblings?
A:    While we will make every attempt to keep friends/syblings together there is no guarantee made that it can happen in every case. This such as age and roster size can impact them being able to play together.

A:  Depending on the childs size/maturity level this may be possible. These are usually addressed on a case by case basis.

A:   If the child has advanced in size/skill and is not being challenged by micros we will allow them to play up on U7 teams.

A:   We are no longer able to offer refunds due to the costs associated with planning on your child playing.
